Creeping Game Guide

Creeping is a stealth action game. Your goal is to SNEAK, SHOOT and TELEPORT to get past your enemies and on to the next level. There's something good at the end!

Controls

  • Move: W A S D
  • Teleport: Move + SHIFT
  • Jump: SPACE
  • Knife: F
  • Switch Guns: E
  • Reload: R
  • Grenade: G
  • Pause: P
  • Aim: Point the mouse where you want to shoot
  • Shoot: Hold the mouse button

Basics

Vitality
You die when you run out of Vitality and have to restart the level. If you are wounded, you can recover some vit by running away and not getting hit for a few seconds (like in Halo). An alarm will sound if you start to take more damage than you can automatically recover from. If that happens, you can restore to full vit by picking up medkits.
Teleporting
You can teleport! Just run hold whatever direction you want to go in and press SHIFT. Use this ability to move through walls, escape quickly from danger, and confuse your enemies. The purple bar shows your tel power, it recharges automatically.
Shooting
Hold the left mouse button to shoot. It takes time to draw your gun, and once shooting you will move more slowly, so position yourself carefully before you fire.
Melee
Press F to use your knife. It's powerful in close quarters, and you can attack from behind for a silent, instant takedown.
Cover
Run into walls to take cover against them. If you take cover on a low wall you will crouch. Cover reduces your visibility, makes you a smaller target, and gives you a good position to shoot from. If you are crouched or taking cover against a corner, you can start shooting to quickly pop out, then stop shooting to return to safety.
Distraction
While in cover, press F to tap on the wall. This will draw the nearest guard to your position. By manipulating guards you can often sneak by them or ambush them.
Grenade
Press G to throw grenades, if you have some. This is a great way to attack enemies without exposing yourself to fire, or scare off enemies when you're pinned down.

Inventory

Sidearms
you always carry one. They're not powerful, but they get infinite reloads.
Pistol 9MM
A good balance of accuracy, speed, and capacity. Your starting weapon.
MP Mac
Fast but inaccurate. Best used on groups at short range. Take it from the shield boss.
Revolver Revolver
Powerful, but hard to handle. Take your time when shooting it, and aim for the head. Get it by beating the secret level.
Power weapons
take these from defeated enemies. You can only carry one at a time. They're more powerful than sidearms, but they have limited ammo. You can get more ammo by walking over weapons of the same type. Press E to switch between your sidearm and your power weapon.
SMG SMG
A well-balanced fully-automatic. Fire in bursts for maximum effect. These are very common, so it's easy to find ammo.
Shotgun Shotgun
Amazing power at short range, but useless at a distance. It fires slow, so make sure you keep your target lined up. Reloads one shell at a time, so you can interrupt during reload by shooting.
AR AR
Fully automatic with great accuracy, but limited capacity.
Sniper Sniper
Unmatched power and range, but it takes forever to reload, so don't miss :) These are pretty rare.

Other items

Grenades
run over it to pick up 3 grenades. To throw a grenade, point the mouse where you want it to go and press G. Enemies will run away if you toss it near them, so to take them by surprise, hold G to run down the fuse before throwing. Don't hold it too long, it explodes after 3 seconds. Grenades
Medkit
run over it to restore 1/4 of your health. HealthBox

Strategy

Movement

  • Teleport moves you up to 3 squares. If there is a wall 3 squares away you will just move to the furthest open spot.
  • Practice teleporting and jumping both at once. This will allow you to cover huge distances and reach difficult places.
  • You run faster than your enemies. Don't be afraid to chase after them, or to run away if you get injured.

Combat

If your path is to get through the game by any means necessary, these tips will help you stay alive.

  • Try to eliminate as many guards as you can by silent takedown before raising the alarm. This will make your fight much easier.
  • Once the guards are alerted, you have to fight them all before you can move on. But, if you don't alert the guards, you can freely move on to the next level.
  • If you're hurt, run away! You'll get a lot of your health back if you can avoid getting hit for just a few seconds. Use teleportation to escape your enemies - you can skip to the other side of a wall, while they have to figure out where you went and go all the way around.
  • Shoot from cover. Just take cover against a corner or a crouch behind a low wall, and start firing. You'll draw your gun faster than if you were standing in the open, and when you need to reload you can jump back to safety.
  • Fire in short bursts at long range for accuracy. It's slow, but not as slow as missing most of your shots and running out of bullets.
  • Headshots do extra damage.
  • Your enemies can hurt each other with friendly fire, and they don't care who's in their way. Use it to your advantage.
  • Be careful reloading power weapons before the clip is empty. You'll lose any bullets that are left in it.
  • Note where the medkits are and run for them when you're injured.
  • Guards are easily confused. Tricks like teleporting through walls or throwing grenades will make them lose track of you and provide time to get a better position.
  • Guards run away when badly hurt. If you don't have enough ammo to defeat them all, you might at least scare them off.

Stealth

You can complete the entire game without being seen. You can also take that a step further and do it without using violence. If you want to try beating the game with stealth, these tips will help you stay hidden.

  • As long as you are not spotted, you can proceed to the next level without any fighting.
  • Silent takedowns make it easier to get through some parts, but be careful: guards will notice bodies.
  • Distracting guards by tapping on walls is often essential to avoid being spotted. If there's an area you must cross through and a guard watching over it, you probably have to distract him to make him move.
  • Teleportation is key to getting around guards. Look for alternate paths through the level, with teleport jumps you can get to hard-to-reach places.
  • Guards have a 45 degree cone of vision.

Extra Tips

  • There's a secret door in this level! Level15 Thumb
  • Boss1 (shield):
    • You can only really hurt him by attacking from behind. Shotgun works best!
    • One easy way to get behind is to run straight towards him and teleport by. It will take a moment before he realizes where you went, giving you time to fire.
    • If you position yourself right, his teammates will hit him in the back with friendly fire.
    • Don't get too close to the boss, or he'll stun you with his shield.
  • Boss2 (miniguns):
    • Use grenades to pick away at the boss' health while staying out of sight. They move slow, so they're easy to hit.
    • Even though the bosses share a health bar, they each have their own life. Concentrate on one at a time.
    • If you're getting shot too much, try taking out the other guards before the bosses.
